A network of five weather stations in Bolivia is helping determine the location of new water pumping systems. The stations are being used to evaluate the potential of wind, solar, and other natural energy resources. Parameters measured include solar radiation, wind speed/direction, relative humidity, and air temperature. The weather stations have been installed for Proquipo, a development program financed by the Bolivian government and the European Union to help improve the agricultural industry. The data acquired will prove vital for the location and specification of pumping systems that will provide agricultural and drinking water for 100 communities in the region.
