For EUMETSAT Meteosat communications, please use the TX320 High Data Rate GOES Transmitter.
Campbell Scientific no longer sells the OMNISAT-M as a standard product. If you require the use of the Signal Engineering OmniSat transmitter, contact an application engineer at Campbell Scientific for more information.
The OMNISAT-M is a satellite transmitter that uses the METEOSAT satellite system to provide one-way communications from a data collection platform (DCP) to a receiving station.
Meteosat is a system of geostationary meteorological satellites operated by EUMETSAT (European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites). Geostationary satellites have orbits that coincide with the Earth's rotation, allowing each satellite to remain above a specific region. EUMETSAT is an intergovernmental organization created through an international convention of European countries.
Leia maisThe OMNISAT-M transmitter uses the METEOSAT satellite system to provide one-way communications from a data collection platform (DCP) to a receiving station. Supported transmission rates are 300 and 1200 bps. This transmitter is used with our CR800, CR850, CR1000, and CR3000 dataloggers.
Because clock accuracy is critically important for METEOSAT satellite telemetry, the OMNISAT-N includes an embedded GPS receiver. The GPS receiver automatically corrects for clock and oscillator drift.

The transmitter should be housed in an ENC16/18 environmental enclosure. Customers can order the 19332 and 19336 Antenna Cable/Bulkhead accessories to have Campbell Scientific punch a special bulkhead hole in the enclosure and install 17” cables for the Yagi and GPS antennas.
Typical power supply is a BP24 24 Ahr battery, a CH100 regulator, and an SP20 solar panel. A user-supplied deep-cycle rechargeable battery should be used when it is difficult to replace the batteries or the system's power requirements are large. The deep-cycle rechargeable battery should have at least a 60-Ahr capacity, and be trickle-charged with a 20-W solar panel.
